Welcome! I am a professional photographer in Austin, TX. Like many people who embark on careers later in life, my path into photography has been a long and winding one. I got started through another one of my passions that also happens to take a person on some winding and scenic roads - cycling. On the bike, one travels at just the right speed so that you can notice all of the beautiful things around you. During my rides I found myself frequently stopping and taking pictures with just my cell phone: sunlight streaming through a fence in the farmland, a shadowy line of trees against the blue sky in Utah, a veritable desert graveyard in Nevada.
Observation. Quiet contemplation. Being in the moment. I realized that the photographs came from being in that state of mind. I finally decided to get a "real" camera and take some classes. I love the thoughtfulness of the entire process, and also enjoy the technical and creative skills that are used during editing. But at the root, it's about going out and being curious about the world. What new things will I see when I'm out exploring and in that space of observation and contemplation?
I post on other platforms in addition to this website, and also exhibit my work at art festivals. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about my work, or if you would like to talk about art or life. Or cycling.
